Whether you’ve experienced counselling or therapy in the past or if you’re new to the idea, you might be curious about how I work and what issues I can work with.
Just as every person’s different, with their own unique world view, experiences, values, personality and approach to life, no one counsellor is the same. And no one counselling session is ever the same, either.
Essentially, counselling is a talking therapy which can produce profound results in terms of helping people to resolve issues which have negative impacts on their life. Left unresolved, these can lead to both physical and mental health problems that have a knock-on effect on all areas of life, especially personal relationships. I work with clients holistically to help them safely identify ways to affect positive change.
The terms counselling and therapy are used interchangeably: they are nothing to do with problem solving or advice giving (although, if appropriate, I might signpost you to useful resources). No matter how highly qualified or experienced a counsellor is, there is no greater expert on you, then you, yourself. However, sharing what’s going on for you in a safe, secure and confidential space with someone who is ethically, morally and professionally bound to truly hear you, and is trained to do so, is exceptionally valuable.
The most precious element of a counselling therapeutic relationship is the relationship itself. So, if you’ve had a negative experience in the past, please don’t give up. It might just be that you hadn’t found the right counsellor for you – or perhaps you were not in the right place at that time and not ready to do the work that therapy involves.
Are you ready now?
I see clients who present with a range of issues, sometimes stemming from a bereavement or a complex grief, sometimes not.

Addiction
Anxiety
Bereavement
Bullying
Burnout
Cancer
Dementia
Depression
Domestic abuse
Family issues
Health anxiety
Low confidence
Menopause
